HOW MUCH DOES AN ONLINE PERSONAL TRAINER COST?

Updated: Aug 18

Let's learn about the prices for an online personal trainer both live online and virtual.

Let's take a deep dive into the pricing structure and learn the answer to the burning question, how much does an online personal trainer cost?

Seems the world has gone online and this includes the personal training industry. Well, it least it did during Covid. The majority of personal trainers who "pivoted" to online training when gyms were closed have now gone back to in person personal training. However, there is a significant number of clints who prefer online training and simply don't want to go back to the gyms.

As the years pass and dust settles on online prices, we now have a clear and solid pricing structure by which to fairly quote to perspectives clients. So let's dive in and get informed about exactly how much does an online personal trainer cost.

General Rules

The cost of a live online personal trainer can vary depending on several factors, including the trainer's experience and qualifications, the duration and frequency of the sessions, and the region or country in which you reside. Additionally, different trainers may have different pricing structures, so it's essential to research and compare options in your area.

Generally, live online personal training sessions can range from $30 to $150 per session, with the average cost falling around $50 to $100 per session. Some trainers may offer package deals or discounted rates for purchasing multiple sessions upfront. It's important to note that these prices are estimates, and actual costs may differ based on various factors.

Furthermore, some trainers may offer different pricing tiers or options based on the level of support and additional services provided. For example, premium packages may include personalized meal plans, regular check-ins, or 24/7 access to the trainer for questions and support.

When selecting a live online personal trainer, it's crucial to consider their qualifications, experience, and reviews from previous clients to ensure you're receiving quality service for your investment. Additionally, inquire about any additional costs or potential discounts available to tailor the training experience to your specific needs and budget.

At Dennis Romatz Fitness, I have myself and a team of qualified online personal trainers and online fitness coaches. We perform primarily live online personal training as we feel strongly that training live online yields far better results than other methods where an online trainer would send a client their fitness program to do one their own and then perform progress check-ins once a weekly or as scheduled.

Live Online Personal Trainer

Live online training really isn't that much different from in-person training in terms of how a trainer would price themselves. Really, the difference for freelance trainers would be that they don't have travel time, thus, no travel costs to be covered. Gyms trainers are already at the gym, just as online trainers are either at a gym or at home, and have no travel costs so there are similarities between gym trainer prices and online trainer prices.

So, what we find is that "Live Online Personal Trainer" prices are the same or approximately $5 - $20 lower than in-person training. What is that price you ask? Well, as mentioned earlier, the prices for live online personal trainer are between $30 - $150 per session. Now, I know that's a huge variance and to be more precise, I know that most personal trainers have their prices set at $70 standard flat rate. Live online personal trainer prices are between $50 - $70 per session.

Virtual Personal Trainer

The virtual personal trainer arena is dominated by larger companies. Personal trainers will post their profile on these websites along with their relevant fitness education, personal trainer certifications, experience and credentials. They are then referred to as "online personal trainers". They can upload their own workouts into their profile as well as use the companies pre-designed exercises and workouts. Prices for these online personal trainers really depends on how they want to compete with other trainers on the same platform. What we find ends up happening and what has happened in the past couple years is that competition got fierce and many online personal trainers dropped their monthly prices. I've seen online personal trainers as low as $8 per month for their program subscriptions. The price for an online personal trainer can range from $49 - $149 / month depending on the extent of the training program, services and number of monthly trainer/client check-ins.

Summary

At the end of the day, remember that you are paying a professional trainer to increase your fitness, improve your health and transform your body. That's a pretty big deal considering our health is our precious wealth. Highly educated, vastly experienced online personal trainers will cost more. The opposite is true as well. So, the answer to the question: how much does an online personal trainer cost? is really, "what is the value you receive from the training?" Use your best judgement and hire the online personal trainer who serves your needs, fulfills your requirements, is a good fit for your personality and who meets your budget.
