Here's a detailed look at the cost of a personal trainer in Chicago

Being a professional personal trainer in Chicago 1998 until 2005, again in 2019 with my Chicago personal trainer business Dennis Romatz Fitness and presently having a staff and team of private freelance personal trainers and fitness coaches providing personal training in 60610, 60601, 60654 and surrounding neighborhoods, I'm here to give you insight into the pricing structure for personal trainers in downtown Chicago, the immediate surrounding neighborhoods and the suburbs.

So how much does a personal trainer cost in Chicago?

Hiring a personal trainer in Chicago costs from $25 to $50 per session for an unqualified or newly certified coach to $100 to $150 per session for a personal trainer holding an NCCA accredited personal trainer certification or a University Exercise Science BS or Master's degree with twenty plus years of personal training experience and specializations.

Prices for a personal trainer in Chicago will vary if the trainer works inside a gym or is a freelancer training in-home or at apartment gyms.

Typically freelance, mobile personal trainers in Chicago will cost $20 - $25 more per session to account for their travel time and expense to and from their client's training location. Prices will be slightly higher as the distance needed to travel gets further from the trainer's core area.

$25 - $45 per session personal trainers in Chicago

In this price range, you'll find personal trainers who are new to the fitness industry, trainers who lack a credible resume and/or marketing skills including a personal brand website. Sadly, you'll also find people offering personal training who aren't even personal trainers. During the financial crash of 2000, we saw many people lose their corporate jobs and start to advertise themselves as personal trainers. We saw the same thing happen in 2008.

Best to steer clear of any personal trainer in this price range as it would not be a wise spend.

$50 - 70 per session personal trainers in Chicago

In this price range, you'll come across personal trainers who have 3-5 years of personal training experience and perhaps at least one personal training certification, usually one of the easier training certifications to obtain. However, most personal trainers charging $50 to $70 per session are pricing themselves in this range simply to attract more clients by undercutting more educated and experienced personal trainers who are charging more. Another factor to consider with personal trainers in this price range is that trainers usually price themselves just as an airline would. The more seats available, the cheaper the price with the baseline price being $50 er session. As the personal trainer gets busier and fills up his or her schedule, the price goes up to approximately $70 per session.

$50 to $70 per session seems to be the "sweet spot" for most personal trainers as it's price point can attract the masses.

$75 - 95 per session personal trainers in Chicago

Personal trainers in Chicago in this price range are typically fitness professionals with a personal trainer certification, University degree in Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology or Kinesiology and 10 plus years of personal training experience.

Personal trainers and fitness coaches charging these prices are a much wiser investment as they are typically more mature, educated, professional, ethical and embody the traits and characteristics of what a personal trainer should be.

They will have a formal University education or certification in nutrition and provide integrated nutrition coaching into every client's daily fitness training program. Personal trainers in this particular price range typically have at least one training specialization.

$100 - $150 per session personal trainers in Chicago

Personal trainers in this price range typically hold an NCCA accredited personal trainer certification (or have previously earned an NCAA accredited personal trainer certification), University BS or Master's degree in Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology or Kinesiology and 20 plus years of personal training experience.

This personal trainer will be a fitness industry ambassador, leader and have a proven track record and long list of training clients with safe, successful results. This trainer may possess multiple NCCA accredited personal trainer certifications as well as supplemental nutrition, sports performance, strength & conditioning, pre & post natal, Senior's training and group fitness certifications.

The personal fitness trainer in Chicago in this price range is an absolutely wise spend in terms of being able to maximize your personal training sessions, improve your health and transform your body.

This expert Chicago personal trainer will offer clinical based personal training. This trainer will perform thorough exercise tests and fitness assessments, design a goal appropriate fitness training style, utilize clinical based, biomechanically perfect fitness training modalities and methodologies and monitor and scale your fitness training program for ongoing, sustainable results and achievements.

Summary:

Searching for a personal trainer or actually hiring a personal trainer means that you want or need to improve your health and/or fitness. Consider that for a moment. You're starting an endeavor to improve your health. Nothing is more important than your health. So please, do not skimp on price when hiring a personal trainer. While it's a fact that everyone has a different budget and amount they can allocate to hiring a personal trainer, it's most important to hire the trainer who will serve your needs.
